Sustainable Sewing
By: Tinka van der Kooij
What are we going to do?
Experienced sewing teacher Tinka will show you how to up-cycle and sew with existing materials. In one afternoon you will work on one project and create something from the old clothes in your closet. Or maybe you’ll use an old curtain you found at the thrift store, wherever your creativity leads you.

Look out for workshops like:

- Make scrunchies or headbands from old t-shirts or sweaters.

- Make a festive re-usable streamer, with leftover textile scraps.

- Make an everyday tote-bag in some cool vintage fabric.
- Make a sandwichwrap or sandwichbag with scrap fabric and old umbrellas.
- For the advanced sewer: learn how to make your own underwear from t-shirts (presented by GroenGoed underwear)
If you want to know more about Tinka, the workshops or her regular sewing classes, follow on Instagram @tinkataart

Amid the fast growing city scape of Utrecht there lies a little green oasis that is Westplein. To preserve and expand the potential of that little patch of green, Jacob Schwartz is making a sculpture that will hold sparrows nests, bringing the urban environment and nature together.

In the workshop: BYOB(bring your own bird), people from the neighbourhood can come and help make these birds nests, creating an apartment building for the city birds so that they too will have housing.

How To Art-speak In Your “Native” Language
By: Lux (choreographer) & Jolijn (community artist)
“So, what is your art about?”...
Do your armpits also start sweating when this dreadful question is
asked? Do you struggle to blurp a coherent story that captures the
magnitude and relevance of your artistic practice? Great! This workshop
is perfect for you! We, Lux (choreographer) & Jolijn (community artist),
facilitate this workshop to explore how to comfortably speak and write
about your art. Find a language that feels natural to you, empowers you
and connects you with people who match with you and your work.

During this workshop we engage in playful speaking and writing exercises
which help to break loose from the conventional art-speak format and to
find your “native” art language. We will support each other to
utilize our creativity to express ourselves in words.

We are looking forward to meeting you and your sweaty armpits!

Date and Timing: 30th Nov 11:00 - 14:00.
Bring with you: something to write on
